EASTER SUNDAY: I have seen the LORD!

As one who bears the name Mary Magdalene, the Easter season holds a profoundly personal significance. It brings me to the quiet of that early morning at the tomb, where tears of loss turned into tears of joy—where grief was met with the voice of the Risen Lord calling her name: “Mary!”

St. Mary Magdalene was the first to witness the Resurrection and was personally commissioned by Jesus to proclaim the Good News to the apostles. Her encounter at the empty tomb was not merely a moment of recognition but also a profound commissioning.

Declared by Pope Francis as the “Apostle of the Apostles,” Mary Magdalene stands as a radiant model of love that endures, faith that does not waver, and a burning zeal that springs from personal encounter with the Risen Lord. Her life speaks to each of us who have ever searched, who have waited through sorrow, and who have dared to hope.

As disciples today, especially those called to serve and lead, may we draw from her strength and tenderness. May her story renew in us the conviction that every encounter with the Risen Christ calls us not only to believe—but to proclaim, to witness, and to become apostles of hope in a world longing for Resurrection.

In the spirit of Mary Magdalene, I too desire to be a bearer of the Resurrection. I bring to you the warm and glorious greeting of Easter—a greeting that is born not just of celebration, but of renewed hope and rekindled mission.” This Easter, may we, like her, hear Jesus call us by name, and may we respond by going forth in love, proclaiming with our lives: “I have seen the Lord!”

Let us carry this light into our communities, into our ministries, into our homes, and into every place where hope is needed. The tomb is empty. Christ is risen. And we are sent.

Alleluia! Alleluia!
