GOOD FRIDAY: Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.”(Luke 23:46)

These final words of Jesus on the Cross echo the total surrender of a heart that has loved fully, obeyed faithfully, and trusted entirely. As I contemplate these words, I am drawn not only to the profound mystery of Christ’s Passion, but to my own journey as a religious—called to give, to trust, and to surrender everything into the hands of the Father.

I recall a deeply moving moment with a Sister nearing her final days. Each evening, I would sit by her side and softly sing, “Into your hands, O Lord, my God, I commend my spirit…”And every time, she would gently yet firmly grasp my hand—as if holding on not just to me, but to God’s presence through me. It was a gesture of trust, of peace, of someone who knew she was not alone. In her silent embrace, I felt the sacred weight of Christ’s words lived out—through her, and within me.

That experience continues to echo in my prayer. I often say, “I am all Yours, and all that I possess I offer to You, my loving Jesus, through Mary, Your most holy Mother. Jesus and Mary, give me Your holy blessing.” It is my daily way of placing my life in God’s hands—again and again—with love, with trust, and with peace.

As a Pious Disciple, as a servant leader, I realize that our call is not to hold back, but to entrust—like Jesus. To give our hearts, our hands, our lives for others. And in doing so, to become a sign of that safe place, that warm presence, where others too can rest and say with peace: “Into Your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.”
