All Creatures Praise the Lord

A Morning Prayer (Canticle of Daniel 3:57-88)

During the time of Pope John Paul II in one of his General Audiences at St. Peter’s Square, He shared his reflection on the Canticle of Daniel. He said: In singing this canticle, the Christian believer is invited to contemplate the world of the first creation, intuiting the outline of the second, inaugurated with the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And this contemplation leads all by the hand to enter into the one Church of Christ almost dancing with joy.

It is an effective blessing, source of fruitfulness, happiness and prosperity. Then there is the blessing that earth lifts towards heaven. The human person who receives so many blessings from the divine generosity, blesses God, praising, thanking and exalting him:  “Bless the Lord, my soul!” (vatican. va)

The Canticle is a cosmic song of blessing, sung to the God of Israel by the three young men thrown into the fiery furnace for their refusal to worship a statue of the King of Babylon. It takes the form of a liturgical hymn which the assembly, gathered in the Temple, would sing to God in praise of his glory which fills the universe.

“All Creatures Praise the Lord”, this is the title  of my first Photo book, visually depicting the Canticle of Praise of the Three Young Men… through the photos captured along this journey of discipleship.
