COLOSSEO

img_2101Being transferred to another community and doing the same apostolate requires me to commute…either I have to take a bus, a tram or have a 6 kilometers walk. At the beginning I thought…wow…this could be tiring since I am not that “young” anymore, but passing by amazing places: green parks, old structures and historical places twice a day gives me positive energies.

And one of the place that fascinates me is COLOSSEO. I already took a lot of photos almost all angles but why I can’t get enough….so, what’s in it?

According to the Wikipedia: The Colosseum or Coliseum or Colosseo which is also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an oval Ampitheater which can be found in the centre of Rome and is situated just east of the Roman Forum. This was constructed on 72 AD under emperor Vespasian and was completed in 80 AD under his successor and heir Titus. Today, the COLOSSEO is one of Rome’s most popular tourist attractions, receiving millions of visitors annually.  (Read more info from https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colosseum#)

A CROSS dedicated for the Christian Martyrs was placed by St. John Paul II for the Jubilee Year 2000. Inscribed on it says: “The amphitheater, one consecrated to triumphs, entertainments, and the impious worship of pagan gods, is now dedicated to the sufferings of the martyrs purified from impious superstitions.

I’ve already attended the Good Friday – Station of the Cross celebration at Colosseo guided by the Holy Father, Pope Francis  for three consecutive years now since I came here in Rome.    And once in a while join the 10:00 o’clock Eucharistic celebration held at the little chapel inside.
